Type Locality and Naming

The type section lies on the east side of the Sino-Nepal Highway between Yali Village and Naxing Village, Nyalam County, Tibet. It was named by Zhang Binggao in 1991.


Lithology and Thickness

Siltstone and Sandy Limestone. Gray and gray-white thin- to moderately thick-bedded silty shale, siltstone and fine-grained sandstone, intercalated with sandy limestone and calcareous sandstone (with diagonal bedding). Thickness >622 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Conformable contact with the underlying Shangyali Fm; or Yali Fm

Upper contact

Unknown: Fault contact with the Lower Permian Selong Group. Next higher regional unit is the Gangmenqiong Gr

Regional extent

Distributed at Mentu and Baga of Zanda County, and at Huoerba and Dajiling of Zhongba County, and also exposed eastward to Yali of Nyalam County, and Pazhug of Tingri County, Sar of Dinggyê and Kuma County.
